Elite Danab commandos of the Somali National Army, in coordination with international partners, carried out a planned, targeted operation near the Warmaxan area in the Lower Shabelle region.

The operation specifically targeted Al-Shabaab militants, resulting in the deaths of two operatives, while two others were captured alive, according to confirmed reports.

During the raid, the forces also seized explosives and other dangerous materials that Al-Shabaab had allegedly intended to use in attacks against civilians in the area. In addition, several hideouts used by the group were destroyed, sites that authorities said posed a serious threat to local security.

Officers leading the operation said the mission aimed to prevent imminent security threats targeting civilians, stressing that such operations will continue until Al-Shabaab is fully dismantled and overall security is restored.

The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by the Somali National Army and its international partners to maintain peace and stability across the country.
