Mogadishu — Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre briefly attended an event organized by the Ministry of Environment on Saturday before abruptly leaving the venue to travel to Halane Camp for meetings with the leaders of Jubbaland and Puntland, sources said.
According to reliable reports, several ministers accompanying the prime minister — including Interior Minister Ali Hosh and Security Minister Abdullahi Ismail Fartaag — were stopped at the main entrance of the meeting venue and were not permitted to proceed inside.
Protocol officials representing Jubbaland President Said Abdullahi Deni and President Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Ahmed Madoobe) reportedly requested that the ministers wait in the hotel’s reception area.
A senior official familiar with the discussions confirmed that Prime Minister Hamza held separate meetings with President Ahmed Madoobe and President Deni. He was accompanied by Member of Parliament Abdirashid Jire during his meeting with President Madoobe, while President Deni attended his session alone.
The meetings were described as introductory discussions. The prime minister pledged to facilitate the technical arrangements related to the visit of the Jubbaland and Puntland leaders to Mogadishu once President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud returns from his trip to Addis Ababa.
Meanwhile, Banaadir24 reported that photographers accompanying Presidents Ahmed Madoobe and Said Deni removed cameras belonging to the prime minister’s media team, an incident that has sparked debate over protocol and coordination between the parties.
