The Somali National Army (SNA), in coordination with international partners, carried out an airstrike targeting Al-Shabaab militants who were planting landmines along the road connecting the areas of Masaajid Ali Gaduud and Daaru Salaam in the Middle Shabelle region, authorities said.

According to officials, the operation specifically targeted fighters who were allegedly preparing to carry out attacks against civilians traveling along key routes linking communities in Middle Shabelle. The strike resulted in the deaths of 15 militants.

Military sources said the airstrike also destroyed a vehicle used by the group to transport and plant improvised explosive devices, along with the weapons on board.

The Ministry of Defense and the Somali National Army reaffirmed their commitment to continuing planned operations aimed at eliminating remaining Al-Shabaab elements. Officials said the ongoing campaign is intended to strengthen security, stability, and the safety of civilians across Somalia.
